We have an election coming up very very shortly as I was just recently reminded by a friend and yes, I am going to go vote as I often do. Actually I intend to encourage everyone into participating in this event.
As I've stated before, I am an anarchist. So if you're reading this right now, you're probably wondering 'Why the hell is he voting?' The reason being that, in voting, I am able to put forth as much honesty as possible. I am, with the vote card, able to declare loudly precisely whom I wish to run my life. Make no mistake, when you're voting, that is precisely what you're doing. You are picking who will tell you what to do, with whom, when, how, and they do this for a number of years.
So, who do you want to run your life? Out of the choices available, do you really have the exact individual in mind and do they represent you as accurately as you'd prefer? Somehow I doubt this, quite honestly. You're just picking the one that comes closest to what you want, and that's only because they're likely to screw you less in your opinion. Politicians are really only out for themselves, if their constituents benefit on the side, then it's win/win, but really, any that have been in office long enough only care about keeping their position.
Sure, you may have a few idealistic up and comers that seem gung ho to shake things up and make promises to change the way things work. They're the ones that get ground down fairly quickly though because, let's face it, that is what a bureaucracy is designed to do, stifle individuality and individual insight and imagination. Everyone becomes a cog in the machine, does their part and nothing changes. That, or they refuse to become another cog and find themselves ejected quite handily from the inner workings.
Have you figured out the answer yet? Granted there's not much time before the polls open, but come now, this should be a fairly easy choice. I am dead certain that you know exactly who has the best interests of you in mind but, if you're still confused go grab a mirror.
That's right. You. You are the only person who you should feel comfortable granting absolute control of your life. You are the only person who knows what your wants and needs are on a day to day basis. I'm fairly certain that you have the exact morals of the person you want to rule over you. I know that's who I want to control my life. Me.
My intent in this election is to do as I've done every election. I will write my own name on the ballot because I refuse to believe any of the wealthy, braying jacknapes that I see on the TV, read about in the newspaper or hear about on the radio really knows what is in my best interest. They know you about as well as they know me, which is to say, not at all.
But I am sure every single one of you that reads this or has read this blog for any length of time at least has double the intellect of anyone who's decided to put themselves in the public spotlight. To be honest it takes zero intelligence to run for a political office, all it takes is charisma. To become the popular person is to win the election, plain and simple and no different than high school.
Speaking of high school, recall back to those elections for class president. Who won them the majority of the time? It wasn't the people that were capable of running their own lives, that much is for certain. So once again you have the same choice, just on a larger scale. And I still believe we're all capable of running our own lives without any difficulty as we know what we require.
In the end, that is my challenge to you. Go out and vote, but be completely honest with yourself and with everyone else about who you think is truly capable of making all the big decisions in your life. If you don't think it's you, then by all means, give up that power, but do so knowing that that is exactly what you are doing.
